Day 1: Arrive into Chennai, meet & assist and transfer to the hotel

City Tour of Chennai

Chennai formerly known as Madras, a typical Indian city, it is the capital
city of Tamil Nadu. Though it was the oldest settlement of the British,
Madras remained unaffected in spirit. Only the Cathedral and the Fort
St George are a reminder of its British past. Chennai has the Marina
Beach, which is the second longest beach in the world, Cove long Beach
secluded amongst a charming fishing settlement.

Day 2: Leave Chennai to Pondicherry by Surface and on arrival Check in
to Hotel Dl Orient.

Pondicherry the former French colony still retains a distinct aura of
the French influence and presence. Traces of the French influence linger
in the policeman's red kepis and the buildings and the layout of the city.
The Aurobindo Ashram where Sri Aurobindo founded the special centre, which
sought to achieve a synthesis of Eastern and Western values.

Day 3: Leave Pondichery to Tanjore enroute visiting Chidambaram and Darasuram.On
arrival Check-in

Chidambaram is an important pilgrim centre and is famous for Lord Nataraja's
temple which covers an area of 40 acres. The temple's gopurams carved
with 108 classical postures of Lord Nataraja and the 1000 Pillared Hall
is worth seeing.
Darasuram The temple of Lord Siva in Darasuram was built by Rajendra Chola
and is one the classical examples of temple architecture and takes you
back by centuries.
Tanjore is famous for the classic Dravidian style Temple of Brihadishwara
with Lord Shiva in his fearsome aspect. This city is also famous for its
arts & crafts: pottery, silk, jewellery, beaten copper & silver
statuettes.

Day 4: Leave Tanjore to Karaikudi. On arrival check in to hotel Taj Bangla.

Karaikudi, the home of Nattukotai Chettiars, a prosperous banking community,
who ventured overseas to South and South East Asia in the 19th and 20th
centuries and amassed great fortunes. Explore Karaikudi with its Iyanar
temple and numerous antique shops and shops stocking Chettinad textiles.
A visit to a Santhai (village market) or artisans workshops where silversmiths
and goldsmiths fashion utensils and precious jewellery and craftsmen create
handicrafts of metal and wood should not be left out.

Day 5: Leave Karaikudi to Madurai.On arrival check in to hotel Taj Garden
Retreat. Overnight at hotel
Madurai is situated in the banks of river Vaigai and one of the India's
most ancient cities with a haistory dating back to the 6th century. It
was the capital of the Pandyan Empire in the 14th century. This city was
the seat of Tamil learning and the last of the Tamil Sangams (Academies)
flourished here nearly 2000 years ago.
Meenakshi Temple is the city's main attraction with a history of 2000
years. The present temple was designed by Viswanatha Nayak and substantially
built during Tirumalai Nayak. The temple is spread over 6 hectares and
has four entrances. There are twelve towers with their heights ranging
from 45 to 50 meters. The Thousand Pillared Mandapam of the temple has
985 beautifully sculptured pillars.
Afternoon visit the famous Meenakshi Temple and the Tirumalai Nayak Mahal.
Late evening visit Meenakshi Temple once more for witnessing the night
ceremony pooja performed in the Temple corridors before the closure of
the Temple for the day.

Day 6: Leave Madurai to Thekkady. On arrival Check in to Hotel Spice Village.

Set in the heart of the cardamom hills of Kerala, Spice Village lies just
outside the Periyar Tiger Reserve. The activities include a boat ride,
a visit to a coffee plantation and even trekking.

Day 7: Leave Thekkady to Kumarakom.On arrival check in to hotel Coconut
Lagoon. Overnight at hotel
Coconut Lagoon - This has been classified as a heritage resort. Located
on the shores of Lake Vembanad the accommodation consists of individual
cottages called " tharawads", the traditional wooden house of
Kerala. Some of them date back to the 1700s. The restaurant is the oldest
tharawad in the resort and incidentally has been mentioned in the book
" God of Small Things ". Leisure activities include Sunset cruise
or a visit to a small bird sanctuary close by.

Overnight at Coconut Lagoon
Day 8: Leisure for Independent activities at Kumarakom. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 9: Leave Kumarakom to Cochin airport to connect flight to Chennai
and on arrival meet, assist and transfer to hotel Taj Coromandel. Overnight
at hotel
Day 10: Leave Chennai for International destination with the most pleasant
memories of a Wonderful Holiday.
